"I need a practical toolkit to help my managers support team performance in a hybrid world"

Making Hybrid Working Work - A Bespoke Solution For A Medical Research Team

We were approached by a medical research organisation, with 500 employees working in different locations, for help. The brief was to design and develop a programme that would give all managers a practical toolkit to help them support team performance in a hybrid world.

After a conversation to explore and understand the specific learning objectives, we devised a programme that addressed the following challenges:

  • How can I create a simultaneous learning experience for my dispersed management group?
  • How can I ensure consistency of experience across my hybrid workforce?
  • What tools can I give my managers to help them support hybrid team performance?
  • How can we offer ongoing support for my team’s mental health and wellbeing?

The solution

A series of 3 x 90 minutes virtual bite size workshops, run over a 6 week period. The workshops were scheduled at different times of the day to allow managers in different time zones to attend. Each interactive and highly practical workshop focused on a specific tool with delegates given multiple opportunities for skills practice. The three tools were:

  1. The workflow check-in
  2. The touchline check in
  3. The wellbeing check in

The programme was supported by two Action Learning workshops, facilitated by a 360 trainer, giving managers an opportunity to share progress and identify and work through ongoing challenges.

Results

The managers were given a practical toolkit to help them support their teams’ performance with confidence. They especially valued the opportunity to come back together to review progress in the Action Learning Workshops.

“The programme was so inspiring. The techniques we learned have changed my approach and transformed how I work with my team”
