Hybrid working - the big experiment

Hybrid working is going to take some experimentation before we get it right. But it's an opportunity to re-imagine the way we work

Hybrid working means different things to different people, and we will need to be flexible. Be prepared to try different things, make mistakes and learn as you go. Discover together where and when your best work can be produced.

What are we trying to achieve with hybrid working?

It’s an opportunity to re-imagine the way we work. The days of crowded trains at rush hour could (and should) be numbered. Surely it makes more sense to go to the workplace only when we need to innovate or collaborate with colleagues – when communication is critical to the success of our output. If we are doing admin tasks or writing reports it might be more effective to do that at home, a work hub or even a local café.

What should we expect?

  • Accept that things won’t be perfect – let go of what you know and surrender to the unknown
  • Follow your intuition, don’t wait for a blueprint
  • Ask the right questions and the solution will reveal itself
  • Give it enough time and enjoy being present in the process
  • Reflect on lessons learned regularly
  • If it doesn’t work, redo the experiment but with different steps

“Accept that things won’t be perfect - let go of what you know and surrender to the unknown”
