In your role as manager you must work hard to understand the often quite complex set of variables that will exert an invisible influence on the motivation levels of your team. This session will focus on how to provide inspirational management to your team as well as how to build and maintain momentum in the team’s effort. Particular emphasis is given to the things you need to provide as a manager if you are to fully develop the Manager/Employee Psychological Contract. We will look at just how easy it is to put the common motivators in place but also explore how to spot individual motivations and how such motivations can be harnessed to drive individual performance. Human beings inevitably clash, especially at work. Different personalities, different communication styles, different motivations and ambitions can all give rise to ongoing workplace conflict. This can lead to fractured and damaged relationships and will ultimately have a negative effect on performance. As managers our role is to usually manage the impact of these conflict situations, but what if we could work instead to resolve the conflict itself? By adopting the approach of a mediator and developing the skills to mediate successfully we can help those we manage to resolve their conflict. This session gives you the tools and confidence to help those in conflict to identify and agree joint solutions, leading to the best possible outcomes for the individuals involved and for your organisation.

Writing speeches that engage and motivate audiences can be incredibly daunting, even if the final output is to be delivered by someone else. Creating any kind of formal presentation requires clarity and confidence to communicate key messages but, without the comfort factor of a slide deck, delivering a speech can make the speaker feel even more exposed. We’ll work with you during the session to provide reassurance that speeches can be made impactful and memorable using purely the spoken word. During the session we’ll focus on what powerful communication looks like – drawing on well-known orators and what we can learn from them – and how we need to adapt our communication style to meet the needs of the audience. Next we’ll explore current skill levels, using real-life examples of speeches you’ve previously created. We’ll look at the value of preparation, turning our attention to content and structure, ensuring that the objectives of the speech are met. Through a series of exercises we’ll look at how to employ appealing and dynamic language and techniques such as themes, storytelling, reflection, metaphors and analogies. This will help you develop your ability to be both logical and persuasive. Towards the end of the day, we will invite you to deliver the opening few minutes of a speech as well as closing comments and a framework for the body of the address. This will reinforce the learnings, bringing the explored techniques to life.

Overview
Have you ever wondered what it takes to get a team of people really pulling together and maintaining high levels of rapport and momentum? We believe that if a team is to achieve optimum effectiveness it must focus on more than just a common goal and individual objectives and responsibilities. It is important for every team member to have a thorough understanding and appreciation of their own capabilities and work preferences as well as the capabilities and work preferences of those around them. Using a variety of different models and techniques we will assess not just our own, but also our fellow team member’s communication and overall work behaviours and preferences. We can then explore the impact this will have on overall team performance.

Overview
The ability to bring out the best in both ourselves and in others is a crucial part of a Leader’s repertoire. And not surprisingly it's a Leader’s Emotional Intelligence that will help them to do that. Emotional Intelligence (EQ) is now recognised as a key factor influencing high performance at work - particularly for those in people management roles. But what is it, and more importantly how can it be developed? An Emotionally Intelligent Leader pays attention to the impact they make on those around them. They consider how their emotions and feelings are contributing to their behaviours and do a good job at regulating those that are perceived as disruptive or inhibiting. They also recognise the need to truly engage with those around them – inspiring others to be their best self. This workshop will explore how it’s done, building your understanding of how to motivate yourself, manage organisational and relationship pressure points and inspire those around you.
